LOBBY

Single-Zone Variable Air Volume

Lobbies tend to be large spaces with variable occupancy levels. Greenheck's model RV is designed with full unit modulation and factory-provided controls to simultaneously adapt to the ventilation, temperature, and humidity.

Our comprehensive line of grilles, registers, and diffusers can accommodate any airstream, ceiling type, and air pattern desired.

Our HVLS fans not only provide excellent air circulation in large volume spaces, like lobbies, they are also an architectural centerpiece. Custom painted blades to match your team colors and an optional LED light can make for a stunning night light for your school's entrance.

GYMNASIUM

Single-Zone Variable Air Volume with Energy Recovery

School gymnasiums can have extreme occupant variability, from a few kids shooting hoops, to packed stands for a basketball game. These densely occupied spaces often require energy recovery, a device that reduces the load from the ventilation air brought into the space from the outdoors.

Unit controllability is critical to ensure these spaces maintain proper ventilation as well as temperature and humidity control. Greenheck's factory controls and modulating components make maintaining thermal comfort and IAQ easy.

Greenheck's model DS HVLS fan is excellent for proper air circulation and destratifying the air in the space. These products are designed to withstand normal 'wear and tear' from gym applications, which means no protective guards are needed to deal with accidental ball strikes.

System Equipment:

  • Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) | Model RVE-85
  • Overhead HVLS Fan | Model DS-6-8-70HV
  • Round Ceiling Diffuser | Model XG-3000
  • Round Ceiling Diffuser | Model XG-3100S

LOCKER ROOM

Energy Recovery Preconditioning

Locker and shower rooms require a significant amount of exhaust air to remove contaminants, odors, and moisture from the space. Conditioning the fresh air to replace what is exhausted can be very expensive and energy consumptive. Greenheck's energy recovery ventilators are ideal for capturing as much energy as possible before the air is exhausted out of the building. These units can be tied in with air handlers, rooftops, or conventional furnaces reducing the energy needed to ventilate these spaces, and helping to improve controllability of the heating and cooling devices.

Greenheck also offers a variety of frost control options to ensure the moisture from the shower rooms doesn't develop frost in those colder regions.

System Equipment:

  • Energy Recovery Ventilator | Model ERV-10
  • Square Cone Diffuser | Model CDS
  • Return Grille | Model XG-CC45

SCIENCE LAB

Fume Hood Exhaust System and Multi-Zone VAV

Science labs offer a great experience for students to learn the basics of chemistry and biology. These labs don't get the heavy use of a commercial pharmaceutical lab, but they still require safety and chemical containment to be a priority.

Greenheck's model FJI is a great fit for educational fume hoods. They meet the criteria necessary for exhausting hazardous materials typically used in a high school setting, but are more cost effective than the commercial grade lab fan systems. These products have multiple stack height options and factory nozzles to ensure adequate plume height and discharge velocities for safety on the roof deck and neighboring areas.

Space conditioning and ventilation is also made simple with Greenheck's model RV, configured to mix return air from the lab classrooms and provide proper ventilation air to ensure high indoor air quality and space pressurization from the hood exhaust system. The example shown is a multi-zone VAV system with Greenheck XG-TH-500 air terminal units. Other design concepts could include Dedicated Outdoor Air System solutions with decoupled ventilation and temperature control.

System Equipment:

  • Rooftop Unit (RTU) | Model RV-10
  • Fume Exhaust Fan | Model FJI-10
  • Air Terminal Unit (ATU) | Model XG-TH-500

CLASSROOMS

Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS)

Maintaining optimal indoor air quality, specifically adequate ventilation, in K-12 classrooms is not only critical for the occupant health but has been proven to improve academic performance of the occupants. A dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) is a very effective and efficient system for this.

Our wide-ranging DOAS product offering includes various heating, cooling and energy recovery options, like packaged air-source heat pumps with modulating, inverter compressors, secondary electric heat, and an energy recovery wheel. The modulation associated with these configurable components allows these units to adapt to any incoming air condition as the building experiences seasonal extremes.

Modulating hot gas reheat allows these units to dehumidify the incoming air and reheat it back to a space neutral temperature, utilizing heat from the refrigeration cycle that would have otherwise been wasted. This is the key element to these systems, introducing ventilation air to each space without a negative impact to the space thermal condition.

Optimize energy efficiency by including terminal unit VAV boxes like Greenheck model XG-TH-500 for demand controlled ventilation.

  • Air Terminal Unit (ATU) | Model XG-TH-500

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES

Multi-Zone Variable Air Volume System

Many office applications, like administrative offices of a school, have many smaller, individual office rooms or working areas. A common design approach to these applications is a multi-zone variable air volume system that includes a centralized air unit, like a rooftop unit, and air terminal units that serve each of the individual zones.

In these applications, the rooftops are sized to handle the required ventilation air from the entire system area, as well as the load of the recirculated air from the space. Greenheck's rooftop units offer high modulation of the supply fan, while cooling and heating components allow it to seamlessly handle any incoming air conditions. They are also designed to handle the lower sensible heat ratios (SHR) resulting from modern building designs.

Greenheck's comprehensive line of terminal units allow flexibility for varying load profiles. Whether it's a perimeter zone that needs a parallel fan-powered box for optimal reheat and night setback capabilities, series fan-powered boxes for constant sound applications, or traditional single duct boxes, we have you covered.

System Equipment:

  • Rooftop Unit (RTU) | Model RV
  • Parallel Fan-Powered VAV | Model XG-FVI-500 (perimeter)
  • Series Fan-Powered VAV | Model XG-FCI-600 (conference room)
  • Single Duct VAV | Model XG-TH-500

KITCHEN

Kitchen Ventilation with Make-Up Air and Decoupled Space Tempering

Kitchen systems are uniquely designed to support the food menu offered and the staff that provide it. Eliminating smoke, heat, and grease from the cooking area effectively is critical for safety and occupant comfort.

With many hood options in both Type I and Type II construction, Greenheck offers design flexibility to meet the need of any kitchen. This example includes back-to-back GXEW-120 wall canopy hoods separated by a utility distribution system (UDS). This layout maximizes the cooking area and makes connections to the cooking appliances and fire suppression system a breeze. These hoods are exhausted by our direct drive roof-mounted upblast fans Model CUE, rated for grease-laden, high temperature exhaust air.

The exhaust air is made up by Greenheck's model DGX, direct gas-fired make-up air unit. This unit is designed to integrate to the hood design to maintain optimal space pressure. For optimal designs, talk to your rep about our factory-provided kitchen control options.
